Travelers, nomads, and explorers will love this intricate World Map stencil. Available in a variety of sizes, apply the map to your walls, bedroom end tables, or even the cover of a large notebook filled with tales of your epic adventures abroad. We often see customers use this stencil to mark all the places they've been on their living room wall. Now that's an awesome conversation piece. Whatever you do decide to create with world map stencils, show us your creativity by tagging us on Instagram using the hashtag #stencilrevolution. If we love your work (and we will) we'd be happy to feature you on our account so all our followers can collectively go, “wow, that's so creative. I wish I'd thought of that.” Don't worry about wear and tear on your stencil either. We've laser cut this world stencil from the same 10mm-thick Mylar used in all our products. Feel free to use and reuse your stencil until the cows come home. After each arts and crafts session, clean your stencil thoroughly with warm soapy water, or even a paint thinner like acetone if you want it completely clean. Please note that before you order you'll first need to select a size from one of the above options. Each of our stencils comes with a .75” inside margin, so you'll need to account for that when ordering. This margin makes it easier to hold your stencil, tape it to the wall when working, and prevent rips and tears from repeated use.

Here are some advantages of using Mylar stencil material:

  • FLEXIBLE: Mylar can wrap around cylinders and uneven or irregular surfaces, and can be rolled for shipping and storage.
  • EASY TO CLEAN: Our Mylar is solvent proof, so cleaning up paint or ink is quick and simple.
  • REUSABLE: Our stencils are built to withstand normal painting wear and tear, and keeping your stencil template clean is the best way to ensure a longer life.
  • DURABLE: Mylar sheets are reputably the strongest type of stencil material, and maintains durability without compromising the pliable structure.

7.5 MIL MYLAR STENCIL MATERIAL

  • Medium Weight. Feels as thick as card stock
  • 7.5 Mil (0.19 mm) thickness
  • Very flexible for tight curves and cylinder shapes
  • Recommended for fine detailed craft stencils and smaller stencils
  • Reusable as long as they are kept clean and well maintained

WHY DO WE RECOMMEND MYLAR?

As mentioned before, the best way to achieve a perfectly painted stencil with a very nice paint edge is to use a stencil material that is as thin as possible for your project. At the same time, you also want a material that wont absorb paint or any liquid because this will cause the stencil to deteriorate. A stencil made from paper, cardstock or paperboard will become saturated with paint or ink rather quickly, and this causes a crusty, uneven edge that can never be removed.

Another option for stencils, and one that quickly comes to mind when we discuss durability, is metal stencils. While these thick, unbendable stencils do have their place for some industrial applications where paint overspray and running doesnt quite matter as much, they can be very expensive and heavy to ship.

There are some other plastics that are used for stencil manufacturing, but these are typically cut with a die cutter so there is a limited amount of detail that can be achieved. And because this older, traditional process takes so much work and expense to set up for each stencil design, the minimum are often in the 1000s.
