Witches have been around in one form or another for centuries, long before Halloween came into being. Yet, they have become one of the ultimate symbols of Halloween, second only to the Jack-o-lantern and maybe the black cat. You've probably dressed up as a witch at least once in your life. Well, we wanted to have a little fun with the witch as a symbol of Halloween, so we created our Witches Be Trippin' stencil. This stencil has the words “Witches Be Trippin” below an image of a witch flying on her broomstick in front of the full moon. This witch looks just like the wicked witch from The Wizard of Oz! Paint this on a large piece of wood to decorate your yard for Halloween, or even on a big piece of fabric to hang from a tree or on the side of your house. No matter what you decide to do, just be sure you are using the right paint for the medium. Now, we know there are a lot of preparations to make for Halloween, but painting with your stencil won't take up a lot of your time. Just secure the stencil and paint, then wash the stencil and tuck it away for next year. From setup to cleanup it only takes a few minutes, but your art will last a lifetime. WHY DO WE RECOMMEND MYLAR?

As mentioned before, the best way to achieve a perfectly painted stencil with a very nice paint edge is to use a stencil material that is as thin as possible for your project. At the same time, you also want a material that wont absorb paint or any liquid because this will cause the stencil to deteriorate. A stencil made from paper, cardstock or paperboard will become saturated with paint or ink rather quickly, and this causes a crusty, uneven edge that can never be removed.

Another option for stencils, and one that quickly comes to mind when we discuss durability, is metal stencils. While these thick, unbendable stencils do have their place for some industrial applications where paint overspray and running doesnt quite matter as much, they can be very expensive and heavy to ship.

There are some other plastics that are used for stencil manufacturing, but these are typically cut with a die cutter so there is a limited amount of detail that can be achieved. And because this older, traditional process takes so much work and expense to set up for each stencil design, the minimum are often in the 1000s.
