Turtle Stencil - Reusable - 7.5 MIL (190 Micron) Thick Mylar
Turtles are fascinating creatures. They live in a world between the land and the water, carrying their home on their back. The leatherback turtles of the ocean are huge and can live for up to 150 years. This makes them a symbol of longevity and endurance and perhaps an object of envy for us humans who wold love that long a lifespan. We decided we wanted to capture the beauty and strength of the turtle, so we created our Turtle stencil. This stencil shows the perfect image of a turtle, with its mottled shell, its head, and its four legs and tail. The image is basic, but fun and easy to paint, ideal even for beginners to stenciling. You can create fun stencil art with this design. Or you can paint it as part of a seascape, perhaps on the wall in a child's bedroom, as a mural in a museum, or on the set of play. Greeting cards, t-shirts, and graffiti art – anything is fair game. When you decide on your project, be sure to get the right paint for the medium. This will allow you to paint on any surface you want. And be sure to get the right stencil size for your needs. We laser-cut the Turtle stencil in the following sizes: 5” x 6” 5” x 11” 18” x 12” 24” x 18” 36” x 24” 48” x 32” 55” x 35” Best of all, this stencil is so inexpensive you can get more than one, or you can mix it up with other animal stencils, such as the Crab stencil. This makes it easy to have a stenciling party. Stenciling is so easy. Just secure the stencil flat to the surface and paint. Then it's a matter of washing the stencil and tucking it away until you need it for your next stenciling party.
Here are some advantages of using Mylar stencil material:
- FLEXIBLE: Mylar can wrap around cylinders and uneven or irregular surfaces, and can be rolled for shipping and storage.
- EASY TO CLEAN: Our Mylar is solvent proof, so cleaning up paint or ink is quick and simple.
- REUSABLE: Our stencils are built to withstand normal painting wear and tear, and keeping your stencil template clean is the best way to ensure a longer life.
- DURABLE: Mylar sheets are reputably the strongest type of stencil material, and maintains durability without compromising the pliable structure.

WHY DO WE RECOMMEND MYLAR?
As mentioned before, the best way to achieve a perfectly painted stencil with a very nice paint edge is to use a stencil material that is as thin as possible for your project. At the same time, you also want a material that wont absorb paint or any liquid because this will cause the stencil to deteriorate. A stencil made from paper, cardstock or paperboard will become saturated with paint or ink rather quickly, and this causes a crusty, uneven edge that can never be removed.
Another option for stencils, and one that quickly comes to mind when we discuss durability, is metal stencils. While these thick, unbendable stencils do have their place for some industrial applications where paint overspray and running doesnt quite matter as much, they can be very expensive and heavy to ship.
There are some other plastics that are used for stencil manufacturing, but these are typically cut with a die cutter so there is a limited amount of detail that can be achieved. And because this older, traditional process takes so much work and expense to set up for each stencil design, the minimum are often in the 1000s.
