Have you ever wished upon a shooting star? Witnessing one blazing across the night sly is certainly an amazing sight to see. The Shooting Star stencil shows a bigger central star and four smaller stars with trails flowing out behind them. Imagine what this would look like done in glow-in-the-dark paint in a child's bedroom or in your TV room, perhaps pairing it with our Moon And Stars stencil. That would truly make an incredible night sky indoors. But you can use the Shooting Star stencil in so many other ways. You can paint it onto the set of a play or onto wood furniture. You can send out handmade greeting cards to friends and family, wishing them luck and good fortune. You can make some great graffiti art, sending a Shooting Star out to an entire neighborhood or city. There truly are no limits. And it all begins by choosing the size you need from the available sizes, which include: 6” x 6” 8” x 8” 12” x 12” 15” x 15” 20” x 20” 25” x 25” 30” x 30” 35” x 35” Then choose the right paint for the medium in the color of your choice and you have a recipe for Shooting Star magic. All you have to do is secure the stencil flat to the surface and apply the paint using a spray, brush, or roller. It's really that simple. You can do it in just a few minutes. Then you can wash the stencil and tuck it away safely or pass it on to a friend. This eco-friendly stencil is reusable, making it a great DIY investment.
Here are some advantages of using Mylar stencil material:
- FLEXIBLE: Mylar can wrap around cylinders and uneven or irregular surfaces, and can be rolled for shipping and storage.
- EASY TO CLEAN: Our Mylar is solvent proof, so cleaning up paint or ink is quick and simple.
- REUSABLE: Our stencils are built to withstand normal painting wear and tear, and keeping your stencil template clean is the best way to ensure a longer life.
- DURABLE: Mylar sheets are reputably the strongest type of stencil material, and maintains durability without compromising the pliable structure.

WHY DO WE RECOMMEND MYLAR?
As mentioned before, the best way to achieve a perfectly painted stencil with a very nice paint edge is to use a stencil material that is as thin as possible for your project. At the same time, you also want a material that wont absorb paint or any liquid because this will cause the stencil to deteriorate. A stencil made from paper, cardstock or paperboard will become saturated with paint or ink rather quickly, and this causes a crusty, uneven edge that can never be removed.
Another option for stencils, and one that quickly comes to mind when we discuss durability, is metal stencils. While these thick, unbendable stencils do have their place for some industrial applications where paint overspray and running doesnt quite matter as much, they can be very expensive and heavy to ship.
There are some other plastics that are used for stencil manufacturing, but these are typically cut with a die cutter so there is a limited amount of detail that can be achieved. And because this older, traditional process takes so much work and expense to set up for each stencil design, the minimum are often in the 1000s.
