School Unicorn Stencil - Reusable - 7.5 MIL (190 Micron) Thick Mylar
Unicorns are so much fun. These magical creatures have been lighting up our lives in stories and legends for centuries. Children are delighted by these horned horses. And we want to bring the joy of unicorns to all your DIY art and decor projects. That's why we have created a series of unicorn stencils that are ideal for so many different projects. And that includes our School Unicorn stencil. This stencil shows the top portion of the unicorn's head, with her lashed eyelids, ears, and horn. But she isn't an ordinary unicorn. She is also wearing some stylish glasses, has a bow on her head, and has a pencil tucked behind her ear. She is a pure academic unicorn and she is awesome! You can use this beauty on her own, or team her up with any of our other unicorn stencils, such as the Unicorn Head stencil. This would be such a fun unicorn design to paint on a wall in your classroom, or hang as a piece of art. Kids will love its fun design, which can mark the reading area, the math corner, or anywhere else you can think of. You can use it in a child's bedroom, perhaps painting it where their study area is, on the head of their bed, or on their dresser drawers. This would also be a fun design to make stencil art you can sell or to add some pizzazz to the set of a play. To use this stencil to its full capacity, you need two things. The right paint for the medium will allow you to paint on any surface, such as walls, glass, paper, wood, metal, plastic, and more. And the right stencil size will allow you to make it small and intimate all the way to big and bold. Available sizes are as follows: 5” x 6” 5” x 11” 18” x 12” 24” x 18” 36” x 24” 48” x 32” 55” x 35” You can paint this design on your own or get a few stencils and have a painting party with your child and their friends. Either way, using this stencil is easy peasy. Secure it to the surface and paint. That's it. You'll have fun, it will take just a few minutes, and cleanup is as simple as washing the stencil in warm, soapy water and tucking it away.
Here are some advantages of using Mylar stencil material:
- FLEXIBLE: Mylar can wrap around cylinders and uneven or irregular surfaces, and can be rolled for shipping and storage.
- EASY TO CLEAN: Our Mylar is solvent proof, so cleaning up paint or ink is quick and simple.
- REUSABLE: Our stencils are built to withstand normal painting wear and tear, and keeping your stencil template clean is the best way to ensure a longer life.
- DURABLE: Mylar sheets are reputably the strongest type of stencil material, and maintains durability without compromising the pliable structure.

WHY DO WE RECOMMEND MYLAR?
As mentioned before, the best way to achieve a perfectly painted stencil with a very nice paint edge is to use a stencil material that is as thin as possible for your project. At the same time, you also want a material that wont absorb paint or any liquid because this will cause the stencil to deteriorate. A stencil made from paper, cardstock or paperboard will become saturated with paint or ink rather quickly, and this causes a crusty, uneven edge that can never be removed.
Another option for stencils, and one that quickly comes to mind when we discuss durability, is metal stencils. While these thick, unbendable stencils do have their place for some industrial applications where paint overspray and running doesnt quite matter as much, they can be very expensive and heavy to ship.
There are some other plastics that are used for stencil manufacturing, but these are typically cut with a die cutter so there is a limited amount of detail that can be achieved. And because this older, traditional process takes so much work and expense to set up for each stencil design, the minimum are often in the 1000s.
