Pinwheel Quilt Block Stencil - Reusable - 7.5 MIL (190 Micron) Thick Mylar
Quilting is an amazing form of art. That's right, you don't just get a warm blanket out of it – you get a stunning creation that will truly add to a room's decor. Not only that, but women once sewed meaning into their quilts. The pinwheel quilt block was one such design, used in the early 1800s as a more practical design for quilts that were used to cover walls, keep warm at night, and even to create a sofa by putting a board between two chairs and covering it with a quilt. Now you can enjoy the pinwheel quilt block without the need to learn how to quilt, thanks to our Pinwheel Quilt Block stencil. The pinwheel pattern is one that creates squares out of triangles, which is what we have done so well in our Pinwheel Quilt Block stencil. There are small triangles that form four small squares in the center of the block. These four small squares then form the inner corner of each of the four larger outer squares, which are also made from triangles. It's a truly mesmerizing pattern. This would be a great design to paint on a hope chest, on the back to a rocking chair or bench, or to create fun quilt art to hang. You can create greeting cards, t-shirts, or use it to create a wall border in a room in your home or cottage. It would also be great when used as part of the decor in a quilting supply shop. You can also check out our other quilt block stencils, such as the Starburst Quilt Block stencil. Whatever you use this stencil design for, be sure you get the right paint for the surface and the right stencil size from the following range of sizes: 6” x 6” 8” x 8” 12” x 12” 15” x 15” 20” x 20” 25” x 25” 30” x 30” 35” x 35” Best of all, using the Pinwheel Quilt Block stencil takes way less time than actually quilting the pattern. You will be done in just a few minutes from setup to cleanup. And after washing the stencil, you can tuck it away until you or someone you know needs it again.
Here are some advantages of using Mylar stencil material:
- FLEXIBLE: Mylar can wrap around cylinders and uneven or irregular surfaces, and can be rolled for shipping and storage.
- EASY TO CLEAN: Our Mylar is solvent proof, so cleaning up paint or ink is quick and simple.
- REUSABLE: Our stencils are built to withstand normal painting wear and tear, and keeping your stencil template clean is the best way to ensure a longer life.
- DURABLE: Mylar sheets are reputably the strongest type of stencil material, and maintains durability without compromising the pliable structure.

WHY DO WE RECOMMEND MYLAR?
As mentioned before, the best way to achieve a perfectly painted stencil with a very nice paint edge is to use a stencil material that is as thin as possible for your project. At the same time, you also want a material that wont absorb paint or any liquid because this will cause the stencil to deteriorate. A stencil made from paper, cardstock or paperboard will become saturated with paint or ink rather quickly, and this causes a crusty, uneven edge that can never be removed.
Another option for stencils, and one that quickly comes to mind when we discuss durability, is metal stencils. While these thick, unbendable stencils do have their place for some industrial applications where paint overspray and running doesnt quite matter as much, they can be very expensive and heavy to ship.
There are some other plastics that are used for stencil manufacturing, but these are typically cut with a die cutter so there is a limited amount of detail that can be achieved. And because this older, traditional process takes so much work and expense to set up for each stencil design, the minimum are often in the 1000s.
