Maryland Crab Stencil - Reusable - 7.5 MIL (190 Micron) Thick Mylar

The crab is a unique creature that is so fun to watch as it scuttles around on the rocky shore. They are amazingly adept at fitting in tight spaces to hide from predators. And they are abundant all over the world, including the state of Maryland, which has a crab named after it. In fact, the Maryland crab is so popular, people from all over flock to the shores of this great state to get their share. If you love crab or you love the state of Maryland and the coastal life, you will love our incredible Maryland Crab stencil. The Maryland Crab stencil depicts a Maryland crab with incredible accuracy, from its eight little legs and pincers to its beady little eyes. This is the perfect stencil to use when you want to create crab art to hang in your home or a seafood restaurant or seaside shop. You can also paint it as the centerpiece of a room's decor or on the ocean backdrop of a play. And if you want to go with a sea theme, you can combine this stencil with any of our other ocean animals, such as the Lobster stencil. The Maryland Crab stencil comes in a range of sizes. This makes it easy to choose just the right size for your needs. Available sizes include: 5” x 6” 5” x 11” 18” x 12” 24” x 18” 36” x 24” 48” x 32” 55” x 35” Along with stencil size, the versatility of using this stencil comes with the fact that you can paint it on any surface, provided you are using the right paint for the medium. This includes surfaces such as paper, walls, glass, canvas, wood, metal, plastic, and more. Plus, using the stencil is a snap. Just secure it flat to the surface and paint using a spray, roller, or brush. Then you can wash it and save it for the next time you need to paint a Maryland crab.

Here are some advantages of using Mylar stencil material:

  • FLEXIBLE: Mylar can wrap around cylinders and uneven or irregular surfaces, and can be rolled for shipping and storage.
  • EASY TO CLEAN: Our Mylar is solvent proof, so cleaning up paint or ink is quick and simple.
  • REUSABLE: Our stencils are built to withstand normal painting wear and tear, and keeping your stencil template clean is the best way to ensure a longer life.
  • DURABLE: Mylar sheets are reputably the strongest type of stencil material, and maintains durability without compromising the pliable structure.

7.5 MIL MYLAR STENCIL MATERIAL

  • Medium Weight. Feels as thick as card stock
  • 7.5 Mil (0.19 mm) thickness
  • Very flexible for tight curves and cylinder shapes
  • Recommended for fine detailed craft stencils and smaller stencils
  • Reusable as long as they are kept clean and well maintained

WHY DO WE RECOMMEND MYLAR?

As mentioned before, the best way to achieve a perfectly painted stencil with a very nice paint edge is to use a stencil material that is as thin as possible for your project. At the same time, you also want a material that wont absorb paint or any liquid because this will cause the stencil to deteriorate. A stencil made from paper, cardstock or paperboard will become saturated with paint or ink rather quickly, and this causes a crusty, uneven edge that can never be removed.

Another option for stencils, and one that quickly comes to mind when we discuss durability, is metal stencils. While these thick, unbendable stencils do have their place for some industrial applications where paint overspray and running doesnt quite matter as much, they can be very expensive and heavy to ship.

There are some other plastics that are used for stencil manufacturing, but these are typically cut with a die cutter so there is a limited amount of detail that can be achieved. And because this older, traditional process takes so much work and expense to set up for each stencil design, the minimum are often in the 1000s.
