Maltese Cross Fire Department Stencil - Reusable - 7.5 MIL (190 Micron) Thick Mylar

The Maltese Cross is a symbol that has been around since the 16th century. It is made up of four arrow shapes with their points pointing inward and meeting at the center. While this symbol has had many uses over the centuries, including as the symbol of the Order of Saint John, today one of its primary uses is as part of the emblem of our fire departments. Now, we have perfectly captured this symbol of our firefighters in our Maltese Cross Fire Department stencil. This stencil offers you a perfect replica of the fire department symbol, with the words Fire Dept. and images of the tools used by our firefighters, such as the fire hydrant, ladder, hat, and hoses. If you have a firefighter in your life, are a firefighter, or simply have great respect for those heroes that risk their lives to help others, you will love this stencil design. You can create a piece of art that would be the perfect thing to honor a firefighter who is retiring. You can use the stencil to paint the symbol onto the wall or window in a fire station. You can use it to paint the symbol on the side of a fire truck or on another vehicle. You can use it to make t-shirts for the whole firefighting team. Regardless of what you choose to do, you will have no trouble, as long as you make sure the paint is designed for the surface on which you are painting. This opens up any surface, such as walls, glass, paper, fabric, and more. You can even ice this design onto a retirement cake since the mylar material is food-grade quality. Just be sure you order the right size of stencil from our range of sizes, which is as follows: 6” x 6” 8” x 8” 12” x 12” 15” x 15” 20” x 20” 25” x 25” 30” x 30” 35” x 35” Best of all, this stencil design is easy to use. Secure it to the surface you have chosen and paint carefully to preserve the detail of the design. The resulting image will look completely professional and you will have the easiest cleanup ever. Just wash the stencil in warm water with a bit of soap and you can store it away for another day.

Here are some advantages of using Mylar stencil material:

  • FLEXIBLE: Mylar can wrap around cylinders and uneven or irregular surfaces, and can be rolled for shipping and storage.
  • EASY TO CLEAN: Our Mylar is solvent proof, so cleaning up paint or ink is quick and simple.
  • REUSABLE: Our stencils are built to withstand normal painting wear and tear, and keeping your stencil template clean is the best way to ensure a longer life.
  • DURABLE: Mylar sheets are reputably the strongest type of stencil material, and maintains durability without compromising the pliable structure.

7.5 MIL MYLAR STENCIL MATERIAL

  • Medium Weight. Feels as thick as card stock
  • 7.5 Mil (0.19 mm) thickness
  • Very flexible for tight curves and cylinder shapes
  • Recommended for fine detailed craft stencils and smaller stencils
  • Reusable as long as they are kept clean and well maintained

WHY DO WE RECOMMEND MYLAR?

As mentioned before, the best way to achieve a perfectly painted stencil with a very nice paint edge is to use a stencil material that is as thin as possible for your project. At the same time, you also want a material that wont absorb paint or any liquid because this will cause the stencil to deteriorate. A stencil made from paper, cardstock or paperboard will become saturated with paint or ink rather quickly, and this causes a crusty, uneven edge that can never be removed.

Another option for stencils, and one that quickly comes to mind when we discuss durability, is metal stencils. While these thick, unbendable stencils do have their place for some industrial applications where paint overspray and running doesnt quite matter as much, they can be very expensive and heavy to ship.

There are some other plastics that are used for stencil manufacturing, but these are typically cut with a die cutter so there is a limited amount of detail that can be achieved. And because this older, traditional process takes so much work and expense to set up for each stencil design, the minimum are often in the 1000s.
