When a woman gets married there is one person she counts on more than anyone else. Someone who has been in her life for many years, someone who has been with her through her ups and downs. No, we aren't talking about the groom – we're talking about her maid of honor. This is a family member, maybe a sister, or a best friend who she wants by her side on that very special day. And what better way to honor the maid of honor than with a beautiful placeholder sign made with our incredible Maid Of Honor stencil. This stencil is part of our line of bridal party stencils that includes stencils like the Best Man stencil. The words “Maid of Honor” are written in a gorgeous script that will suit any wedding style and decor. Just paint the stencil using one of the wedding colors and you have something truly unique. Now, you could just make paper signs with this stencil, but what about making it more special. Perhaps you can mark her place at the head table at the reception with a beautiful wood or metal sign she can keep. Maybe you can ask her to be your maid of honor by giving her a handmade greeting card made with this stencil design. Here are some advantages of using Mylar stencil material:

  • FLEXIBLE: Mylar can wrap around cylinders and uneven or irregular surfaces, and can be rolled for shipping and storage.
  • EASY TO CLEAN: Our Mylar is solvent proof, so cleaning up paint or ink is quick and simple.
  • REUSABLE: Our stencils are built to withstand normal painting wear and tear, and keeping your stencil template clean is the best way to ensure a longer life.
  • DURABLE: Mylar sheets are reputably the strongest type of stencil material, and maintains durability without compromising the pliable structure.

7.5 MIL MYLAR STENCIL MATERIAL

  • Medium Weight. Feels as thick as card stock
  • 7.5 Mil (0.19 mm) thickness
  • Very flexible for tight curves and cylinder shapes
  • Recommended for fine detailed craft stencils and smaller stencils
  • Reusable as long as they are kept clean and well maintained

WHY DO WE RECOMMEND MYLAR?

As mentioned before, the best way to achieve a perfectly painted stencil with a very nice paint edge is to use a stencil material that is as thin as possible for your project. At the same time, you also want a material that wont absorb paint or any liquid because this will cause the stencil to deteriorate. A stencil made from paper, cardstock or paperboard will become saturated with paint or ink rather quickly, and this causes a crusty, uneven edge that can never be removed.

Another option for stencils, and one that quickly comes to mind when we discuss durability, is metal stencils. While these thick, unbendable stencils do have their place for some industrial applications where paint overspray and running doesnt quite matter as much, they can be very expensive and heavy to ship.

There are some other plastics that are used for stencil manufacturing, but these are typically cut with a die cutter so there is a limited amount of detail that can be achieved. And because this older, traditional process takes so much work and expense to set up for each stencil design, the minimum are often in the 1000s.
