Feathered Cow Skull Stencil - Reusable - 7.5 MIL (190 Micron) Thick Mylar
The cow skull was a powerful symbol for Native Americans, representing death, but also strength, agility, and the gentleness of the animal. Native Americans would often keep the skull as a tribute to the animal that gave its life to feed and clothe them, frequently carving beautiful designs into it and hanging it in their home. And now, we are bringing you the cow skull in a whole new way, with our Feathered Cow Skull stencil. The Feathered Cow Skull stencil is the prefect depiction of the sacred skull, its horns adorned with feathers and wearing a crown of flowers. And you can use this design to add the symbolism of the cow skull to all your DIY art and decor. In fact, the possibilities for where to paint this design are nearly endless. All you need is the right paint for the medium and the right stencil size for the job. We offer the Feathered Cow Skill stencil in the following sizes: 6” x 6” 8” x 8” 12” x 12” 15” x 15” 20” x 20” 25” x 25” 30” x 30” 35” x 35” Now, it's up to you to decide how to use the Feathered Cow Skull stencil. Will you paint it onto a wall in your home, cottage, or perhaps a Native American community center? Or will you take it smaller and create stencil art that you can hang in your home, give as a gift, or sell at craft shows? If you go even smaller, you can create unique handmade greeting cards. There truly is no limit. To use the stencil, choose your paint color, secure the stencil flat to the surface, and paint. It's simple and takes just minutes from setup to cleanup, unless you want to stencil all day long. And with proper care, the Feathered Cow Skull stencil will be usable for many years to come.
Here are some advantages of using Mylar stencil material:
- FLEXIBLE: Mylar can wrap around cylinders and uneven or irregular surfaces, and can be rolled for shipping and storage.
- EASY TO CLEAN: Our Mylar is solvent proof, so cleaning up paint or ink is quick and simple.
- REUSABLE: Our stencils are built to withstand normal painting wear and tear, and keeping your stencil template clean is the best way to ensure a longer life.
- DURABLE: Mylar sheets are reputably the strongest type of stencil material, and maintains durability without compromising the pliable structure.
7.5 MIL MYLAR STENCIL MATERIAL
- Medium Weight. Feels as thick as card stock
- 7.5 Mil (0.19 mm) thickness
- Very flexible for tight curves and cylinder shapes
- Recommended for fine detailed craft stencils and smaller stencils
- Reusable as long as they are kept clean and well maintained
WHY DO WE RECOMMEND MYLAR?
As mentioned before, the best way to achieve a perfectly painted stencil with a very nice paint edge is to use a stencil material that is as thin as possible for your project. At the same time, you also want a material that wont absorb paint or any liquid because this will cause the stencil to deteriorate. A stencil made from paper, cardstock or paperboard will become saturated with paint or ink rather quickly, and this causes a crusty, uneven edge that can never be removed.
Another option for stencils, and one that quickly comes to mind when we discuss durability, is metal stencils. While these thick, unbendable stencils do have their place for some industrial applications where paint overspray and running doesnt quite matter as much, they can be very expensive and heavy to ship.
There are some other plastics that are used for stencil manufacturing, but these are typically cut with a die cutter so there is a limited amount of detail that can be achieved. And because this older, traditional process takes so much work and expense to set up for each stencil design, the minimum are often in the 1000s.
