Dream Catcher Stencil - Reusable - 7.5 MIL (190 Micron) Thick Mylar
North American Natives have long believed in the power of the dream catcher. The Ojibwe once believed that spiderwebs offered the protection of the Spider Woman, who cared for children, and so dream catchers were woven as protective charms and hung over children's cradles. In modern culture, many believe the dream catcher catches bad dreams and keeps them from affecting a child. Whatever you believe, the dream catcher is a beautiful object that will add a touch of mystery and Native ambience to any decor, which is why our Dream Catcher stencil makes the perfect addition to all your DIY art and decor projects. Our Dream Catcher template offers a bit of a twist on the traditional spiderweb design. The center of the dream catcher looks more like a woven flower and it is stunning. From the bottom of the catcher hangs beads and feathers in an intricate design. You can use Dream Catcher stencils in so many ways, because with the right paint, you can stencil in onto virtually any surface, and because we offer it in a wide range of sizes, including: 5” x 6” 8.5” x 11” 18” x 12” 24” x 18” 36” x 24” 48” x 32” 55” x 35” Paint in onto the window in your child's bedroom or create some wonderful art you can hang in every bedroom in your home. You can also create art to sell at craft shows. And if you combine the Dream Catcher stencil with other stencils that capture North American culture, such as the Eagle stencil, you can create something incredibly unique. To paint the Dream Catcher design, all you need to do is choose the paint colors you like best, secure the stencil, and paint. Take care to preserve the fine detail of the design. Then you can clean the stencil and tuck it away or lend it to a friend. This stencil is durable and will serve you well for years to come.

WHY DO WE RECOMMEND MYLAR?
As mentioned before, the best way to achieve a perfectly painted stencil with a very nice paint edge is to use a stencil material that is as thin as possible for your project. At the same time, you also want a material that wont absorb paint or any liquid because this will cause the stencil to deteriorate. A stencil made from paper, cardstock or paperboard will become saturated with paint or ink rather quickly, and this causes a crusty, uneven edge that can never be removed.
Another option for stencils, and one that quickly comes to mind when we discuss durability, is metal stencils. While these thick, unbendable stencils do have their place for some industrial applications where paint overspray and running doesnt quite matter as much, they can be very expensive and heavy to ship.
There are some other plastics that are used for stencil manufacturing, but these are typically cut with a die cutter so there is a limited amount of detail that can be achieved. And because this older, traditional process takes so much work and expense to set up for each stencil design, the minimum are often in the 1000s.
