Did you know one theory behind this symbol is that the dollar sign originally came from the letters U and S superimposed on one another, representing the almighty U.K. dollar? Well, whether this is the origin or not, that's precisely what the dollar sign means today. We think of dollar signs when we think of striking it rich, of earning a big haul of cash. And we use the dollar sign symbol in so many ways, which is why we have made the dollar sign easily accessible with our fabulous Dollar Sign stencil. Our Dollar Sign stencil depicts the version that has two lines going through the S. It is classic, detailed, and it makes a great addition to any piece of art or decor you want to create. Creating signs is a breeze with our Dollar Sign stencil, and you can make them big or small, whether you are showing the location of a cash machine or the price of your merchandise. Paint the Dollar Sign as part of the background for a set in a play. Make some crazy fun art with it, or even a cake, thanks to the food-grade quality of the stencil. The Dollar sign stencil is laser-cut in a range of sizes, including: 5” x 6” 8.5” x 11” 18” x 12” 24” x 18” 36” x 24” 48” x 32” 55” x 35” This means you can get the right size to suit your needs. Plus, as long as you have the right paint for the medium, you can stencil this design anywhere! Put it bold on a wall, paint it on a window for a cash store or pawn shop, or paint it on metal, plastic, wood, or canvas. You can even paint it onto fabric. All you need is the paint, the stencil, the surface, and most important of all, your imagination. Using the Dollar Sign stencil couldn't be easier. Simply secure it to the surface and apply the paint with a roller, brush, or spray. Then you can wash the stencil in warm, soapy water and put it away for the next time you need it.

WHY DO WE RECOMMEND MYLAR?
As mentioned before, the best way to achieve a perfectly painted stencil with a very nice paint edge is to use a stencil material that is as thin as possible for your project. At the same time, you also want a material that wont absorb paint or any liquid because this will cause the stencil to deteriorate. A stencil made from paper, cardstock or paperboard will become saturated with paint or ink rather quickly, and this causes a crusty, uneven edge that can never be removed.
Another option for stencils, and one that quickly comes to mind when we discuss durability, is metal stencils. While these thick, unbendable stencils do have their place for some industrial applications where paint overspray and running doesnt quite matter as much, they can be very expensive and heavy to ship.
There are some other plastics that are used for stencil manufacturing, but these are typically cut with a die cutter so there is a limited amount of detail that can be achieved. And because this older, traditional process takes so much work and expense to set up for each stencil design, the minimum are often in the 1000s.
