The countdown begins on December 1 every single year. We all love counting the days until the big guy comes down the chimney and family gathers near, especially the children. This is such a popular thing to do that we have all kinds of calendars we can use to count the days. Now, we are offering you a totally unique way to count down the days in your own DIY way with our Days Till Christmas stencil. The Days Till Christmas stencil has the words “Days ‘til Christmas” written in a fancy script. Above those words are the numbers 25 to 2 in the shape of the tree, with 25 forming the tree trunk. Instead of the #1 at the top, there is a big star to represent Christmas Eve. It's an incredibly fun design and with it you can create your own family traditions. You can use this stencil design to paint the Christmas countdown as a piece of functional art to use with your family or to sell at craft shows. Paint it onto wood and attach a marker on a string that you can use to count the days. Or paint it onto metal and use a magnet. You can even paint this large on a sign, wall, or window. WHY DO WE RECOMMEND MYLAR?

As mentioned before, the best way to achieve a perfectly painted stencil with a very nice paint edge is to use a stencil material that is as thin as possible for your project. At the same time, you also want a material that wont absorb paint or any liquid because this will cause the stencil to deteriorate. A stencil made from paper, cardstock or paperboard will become saturated with paint or ink rather quickly, and this causes a crusty, uneven edge that can never be removed.

Another option for stencils, and one that quickly comes to mind when we discuss durability, is metal stencils. While these thick, unbendable stencils do have their place for some industrial applications where paint overspray and running doesnt quite matter as much, they can be very expensive and heavy to ship.

There are some other plastics that are used for stencil manufacturing, but these are typically cut with a die cutter so there is a limited amount of detail that can be achieved. And because this older, traditional process takes so much work and expense to set up for each stencil design, the minimum are often in the 1000s.
