Dahlia Mandala Stencil - Reusable - 7.5 MIL (190 Micron) Thick Mylar

The mandala is an ancient Hindu and Buddhist symbol for the universe. Traditionally, the mandala was shaped as a square, with four “gates” and a circle in the middle. Today, we most often see mandalas as circles filled with amazing and typically symmetrical designs. Their stunning beauty brings us calm and peace and they are fun to create, color, or paint. Which is why we have brought you our Dahlia Mandala stencil as part of our Mandala collection. The Dahlia Mandala design is incredibly simple, yet is very profound and captivating nonetheless. It is simply a circular pattern of small leaf-shaped petals radiating out from the center to make a lovely flower-like pattern. You can paint the entire design in one color, or radiate the changing color out from the center. The key to using the Dahlia Mandala stencil is to use the right paint for the medium and the right stencil size. We laser-cut the stencil in a wide range of sizes to suit your needs, including: 6” x 6” 8” x 8” 12” x 12” 15” x 15” 20” x 20” 25” x 25” 30” x 30” 35” x 35” With the largest stencil, you can paint the Dahlia Mandala design on a wall in your home, making it the center of the decor. Or you can go with the smallest size and create a wall border. You can paint it onto the window of a spiritual shop, create gorgeous greeting cards, or make fabulous mandala art on wood, metal, or canvas. You can even make t-shirts for your meditation group. And if you're not sure this is the right pattern for you, check out our other Mandala stencils, such as the Paradise Mandala stencil. Painting this design has never been easier. Just secure the stencil flat to the surface and apply the paint with a spray, roller, or brush. When you remove the stencil, you will have a professional image left behind. Then wash the stencil and tuck it away until you need it again, or at least until someone you know asks to borrow it.

Here are some advantages of using Mylar stencil material:

  • FLEXIBLE: Mylar can wrap around cylinders and uneven or irregular surfaces, and can be rolled for shipping and storage.
  • EASY TO CLEAN: Our Mylar is solvent proof, so cleaning up paint or ink is quick and simple.
  • REUSABLE: Our stencils are built to withstand normal painting wear and tear, and keeping your stencil template clean is the best way to ensure a longer life.
  • DURABLE: Mylar sheets are reputably the strongest type of stencil material, and maintains durability without compromising the pliable structure.

7.5 MIL MYLAR STENCIL MATERIAL

  • Medium Weight. Feels as thick as card stock
  • 7.5 Mil (0.19 mm) thickness
  • Very flexible for tight curves and cylinder shapes
  • Recommended for fine detailed craft stencils and smaller stencils
  • Reusable as long as they are kept clean and well maintained

WHY DO WE RECOMMEND MYLAR?

As mentioned before, the best way to achieve a perfectly painted stencil with a very nice paint edge is to use a stencil material that is as thin as possible for your project. At the same time, you also want a material that wont absorb paint or any liquid because this will cause the stencil to deteriorate. A stencil made from paper, cardstock or paperboard will become saturated with paint or ink rather quickly, and this causes a crusty, uneven edge that can never be removed.

Another option for stencils, and one that quickly comes to mind when we discuss durability, is metal stencils. While these thick, unbendable stencils do have their place for some industrial applications where paint overspray and running doesnt quite matter as much, they can be very expensive and heavy to ship.

There are some other plastics that are used for stencil manufacturing, but these are typically cut with a die cutter so there is a limited amount of detail that can be achieved. And because this older, traditional process takes so much work and expense to set up for each stencil design, the minimum are often in the 1000s.
