Yum yum! There are few things that are as wonderful, pretty, and tasty as a cupcake. With that moist cake and the colorful icing, just thinking about it might make your mouth water. You might even enjoy making them as much as you enjoy eating them. Well, now we have another way you can “make” cupcakes, with our Cupcake stencil! This Cupcake stencil is the perfect DIY way to bring cupcakes out of the kitchen and into your art and decor projects. It's a basic design of a cupcake with a big swirl of icing on top. Perhaps you have a little girl who would love a cupcake-themed bedroom. You could get our largest stencil size and stencil the cupcake as the centerpiece of the room's decor. The use a smaller stencil to paint smaller cupcakes around it, as a wall border, or on furniture. You can also make cupcake stencil art to sell, use the stencil to help paint a bakery for a play set, or make cupcake t-shirts. There is no limit to what you can do with the Cupcake stencil. All you need is the right paint for the surface and you can paint on walls, glass, metal, wood, plastic, canvas, fabric, and more. And with the right stencil size, you can paint it just the right size. We laser-cut the Cupcake stencil in the following sizes: 5” x 6” 5” x 11” 18” x 12” 24” x 18” 36” x 24” 48” x 32” 55” x 35” When you are ready to use the Cupcake stencil, simply secure it flat to the surface. Then paint using a spray, roller, or brush. You can even combine it with another stencil design, such as our Rustic Bakery stencil, for a unique look. Then it's just a matter of washing the stencil in warm, soapy water, using a little paint remover if needed, and storing it safely away until you or someone you know needs it again.

WHY DO WE RECOMMEND MYLAR?

As mentioned before, the best way to achieve a perfectly painted stencil with a very nice paint edge is to use a stencil material that is as thin as possible for your project. At the same time, you also want a material that wont absorb paint or any liquid because this will cause the stencil to deteriorate. A stencil made from paper, cardstock or paperboard will become saturated with paint or ink rather quickly, and this causes a crusty, uneven edge that can never be removed.

Another option for stencils, and one that quickly comes to mind when we discuss durability, is metal stencils. While these thick, unbendable stencils do have their place for some industrial applications where paint overspray and running doesnt quite matter as much, they can be very expensive and heavy to ship.

There are some other plastics that are used for stencil manufacturing, but these are typically cut with a die cutter so there is a limited amount of detail that can be achieved. And because this older, traditional process takes so much work and expense to set up for each stencil design, the minimum are often in the 1000s.
