Crafters Gonna Craft Stencil - Reusable - 7.5 MIL (190 Micron) Thick Mylar

If you are a crafter, then you know how that crafting bug gets its clutches into you and won't let go. Really, once you start there is no stopping. Finish one project and on to the next, and the next, and the next. And we have created a stencil design in honor of this very sacred act of crafting. It's the Crafters Gonna Craft stencil and it is truly magnificent for two reasons – it spreads the crafting message and it gives you a whole new DIY way to create fabulous crafts! This design has the words “Crafters Gonna Craft” in a fun array of fonts with a banner, swirling lines, and what looks like the rays of a sun behind the word Crafters. It's fun, it's busy, and it's eye-catching, which is everything a crafter loves to see. You just have to decide what you're going to do with it. Your options are wide open with this design. All you need is the right stencil size and the right paint for the medium. We offer the Crafters Gonna Craft stencil in the following sizes: 6” x 6” 8” x 8” 12” x 12” 15” x 15” 20” x 20” 25” x 25” 30” x 30” 35” x 35” With the right paint you can paint this design on any surface imaginable. Use our largest stencil to paint it big on the wall of your craft room or on the window of a craft store. Go a little smaller to make signs to show where the craft fair is. Go even smaller and create stencil art or t-shirts for all the crafters in your life. No matter what you choose to do with the Crafters Gonna Craft stencil, you will find it incredibly simple to use from setup to cleanup. All you need to do is secure the stencil flat to the surface and apply the paint using a brush, roller, or spray. Then wash the stencil with warn, soapy water, using a little paint remover if needed, and tuck it away until you get the urge to stencil again. Yes, stenciling is an addictive crafting activity, and – well – Crafters Gonna Craft, right?

Here are some advantages of using Mylar stencil material:

  • FLEXIBLE: Mylar can wrap around cylinders and uneven or irregular surfaces, and can be rolled for shipping and storage.
  • EASY TO CLEAN: Our Mylar is solvent proof, so cleaning up paint or ink is quick and simple.
  • REUSABLE: Our stencils are built to withstand normal painting wear and tear, and keeping your stencil template clean is the best way to ensure a longer life.
  • DURABLE: Mylar sheets are reputably the strongest type of stencil material, and maintains durability without compromising the pliable structure.

7.5 MIL MYLAR STENCIL MATERIAL

  • Medium Weight. Feels as thick as card stock
  • 7.5 Mil (0.19 mm) thickness
  • Very flexible for tight curves and cylinder shapes
  • Recommended for fine detailed craft stencils and smaller stencils
  • Reusable as long as they are kept clean and well maintained

WHY DO WE RECOMMEND MYLAR?

As mentioned before, the best way to achieve a perfectly painted stencil with a very nice paint edge is to use a stencil material that is as thin as possible for your project. At the same time, you also want a material that wont absorb paint or any liquid because this will cause the stencil to deteriorate. A stencil made from paper, cardstock or paperboard will become saturated with paint or ink rather quickly, and this causes a crusty, uneven edge that can never be removed.

Another option for stencils, and one that quickly comes to mind when we discuss durability, is metal stencils. While these thick, unbendable stencils do have their place for some industrial applications where paint overspray and running doesnt quite matter as much, they can be very expensive and heavy to ship.

There are some other plastics that are used for stencil manufacturing, but these are typically cut with a die cutter so there is a limited amount of detail that can be achieved. And because this older, traditional process takes so much work and expense to set up for each stencil design, the minimum are often in the 1000s.
