Celtic Triquetra Knot Stencil - Reusable - 7.5 MIL (190 Micron) Thick Mylar
If you know what a Celtic Triquetra Knot is then you must have a little Irish blood in you. Some Celtic ancestry perhaps? Great! Show the world you're proud of your heritage with this classic callback to the days of vikings, saxons, and knights in shining armor. And yes, that's probably not historically accurate, but hey— that's why you're the one ordering this striking Celtic Triquetra Knot stencil and not us, right? The Celtic Triquetra knot, also known as the Trinity Knot, is an instantly-recognizable symbol, having been used for decades by the Catholic church to symbolize the Holy Trinity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. According to our very scientific Wikipedia research, it's also known in Japan as the Musubi Mitsugashiwa and was possibly used as a clan symbol, but to be honest we didn't finish reading the article so don't repeat that to anyone. This gorgeous stencil is built from the same tough Mylar found in professional drum sets. It's also completely washable, durable, and will happily stand up to repeated use. Use it to convert your man cave into an Irish pub (try this one, too), decorate your furniture, or create a hobbit-themed Shire in your backyard. Whatever you choose to do, be sure to tag us on Instagram so we can see your Celtic creativity at work. Before you purchase, make sure you've chosen from one of the seven listed sizes. However, keep in mind that we leave a .75” border on the inside of each stencil. In other words, the listed sizes are for the entire stencil, not the artwork itself. Therefore, it may be a good idea to order one size larger than you think you need just to be on the safe side.
Here are some advantages of using Mylar stencil material:
- FLEXIBLE: Mylar can wrap around cylinders and uneven or irregular surfaces, and can be rolled for shipping and storage.
- EASY TO CLEAN: Our Mylar is solvent proof, so cleaning up paint or ink is quick and simple.
- REUSABLE: Our stencils are built to withstand normal painting wear and tear, and keeping your stencil template clean is the best way to ensure a longer life.
- DURABLE: Mylar sheets are reputably the strongest type of stencil material, and maintains durability without compromising the pliable structure.
7.5 MIL MYLAR STENCIL MATERIAL

- 7.5 Mil (0.19 mm) thickness
- Very flexible for tight curves and cylinder shapes
- Recommended for fine detailed craft stencils and smaller stencils
- Reusable as long as they are kept clean and well maintained
WHY DO WE RECOMMEND MYLAR?
As mentioned before, the best way to achieve a perfectly painted stencil with a very nice paint edge is to use a stencil material that is as thin as possible for your project. At the same time, you also want a material that wont absorb paint or any liquid because this will cause the stencil to deteriorate. A stencil made from paper, cardstock or paperboard will become saturated with paint or ink rather quickly, and this causes a crusty, uneven edge that can never be removed.
Another option for stencils, and one that quickly comes to mind when we discuss durability, is metal stencils. While these thick, unbendable stencils do have their place for some industrial applications where paint overspray and running doesnt quite matter as much, they can be very expensive and heavy to ship.
There are some other plastics that are used for stencil manufacturing, but these are typically cut with a die cutter so there is a limited amount of detail that can be achieved. And because this older, traditional process takes so much work and expense to set up for each stencil design, the minimum are often in the 1000s.
